The girlfriend of six year old Alesha MacPhail’s father has been named by the 16 year old on trial for her murder at the High Court in Glasgow as the person who killed the young girl. Ms McLachlan has denied any involvement in her death on the Isle of Bute.
Ms McLachlan gave evidence this week and stated she had nothing to do with the death and she adored the child. Ms McLachlan told the prosecution that she only became aware the accused was naming her as the murderer when the trial began this week.
Ms McLachaln was emotional giving evidence as she was shown the young girls injuries. A Police officer giving evidence this week stated that the accused was cooperative during the initial investigation and gave a detailed account of his movements but this did not include any interaction with Ms McLachlan. The trial at the High court will continue into next week.
