Mark Kirkby and Ku Wing Kwok have been convicted of transporting handguns after pleading guilty at the High Court in Glasgow.
The pair, who were involved in the sale of the guns at a golf club in North Ayrshire, were jailed for 5 years each.
The convictions came following a Police Scotland operation that had the pair under surveillance as they met to trade modified handguns. Mr Kwok was arrested soon after driving away from the
scene, whilst Mr Kirkby was arrested at his home a short time later.
Police also searched Mr Kirkby’s home, where they found numerous mobile phones and almost £3000 in cash.
Following sentencing, Procurator Fiscal David Green said: “Police and prosecutors will continue to work together to do everything in our power to keep firearms off the streets.”
Crimes involving guns continue to rise across Scotland, with fears that police, the Crown Office and the Government are failing to do enough to stop firearms falling into the hands of organised crime
gangs.
