Following the success of remote jury trials in the High Courts of Edinburgh and Glasgow remote jury trials are set to be rolled out to Glasgow and Edinburgh Sheriff Courts. Six juries will be based remotely in the Odeon cinema at Glasgow Quay for Glasgow Sheriff Court jury trials whilst three juries will be remotely based in the Odeon cinema at Lothian Road.
The director of the Judicial Office for Scotland, Tim Barraclough, said: “With the locations for the first centres confirmed, the Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service is now seeking to conclude contracts to allow the other four sheriffdoms – Grampian, Highland and Islands; North Strathclyde; South Strathclyde, Dumfries and Galloway and Tayside, Central and Fife – to plan for a restart of sheriff and jury business in the new year.”
