Mr Hannigan broke in to a woman’s flat in Leith on the 3rd of February 2018 armed with a blade and demanded money from her. The man filled a suitcase with belongings before ordering Ms Kerr to drive to an ATM to take out her money for him. Mr Hannigan was released from prison two weeks prior to this incident taking place. Mr Hannigan pled guilty to four charges of assault and robbery at the High Court in Glasgow.
Lady Rae sentenced Mr Hannigan to seven years and eight months. Lady Rae stated when sentencing Mr Hannigan “This must have been a terrifying ordeal for your victim…”You broke into a young woman’s house while she was in bed and demanded money from her.”Mr Hannigan who has 55 previous convictions stated through his defence solicitor that he was “disgusted by his behaviour”.
