Jean-Francois Perreault and Imran Zafar Syed were arrested at Glasgow as they were planning to fly a Scottish flight to Canada while under the influence of alcohol after blood tests found they were above the legal limit. However, essential evidence was lost by prison Staff as bloods samples were lost at Low Moss Prison. The case that was due to call yesterday at paisley Sheriff Court was cancelled as there was little evidence.
The accused were off let off with the charge of acting in a threatening manner towards Hilton hotel staff. There was lack of protocol of what to do when blood samples at Scottish Prisons which resulted in this error. A Crown Office spokesman said: “After full and careful consideration of the facts and circumstances, including the recent decision of the Court of Appeal, Crown Counsel instructed there should be no further proceedings at this time.”
