In October 2019 Anthony O’Hare was sentenced to 8 years imprisonment after pleading guilty to supplying drugs, directing others to commit crimes and money laundering. It was estimated that he benefited by the sum of £650,000 from this operation. A confiscation order was made in December 2020 at Edinburgh High Court for the sum of £75,000.
Jennifer Harrower, Procurator Fiscal, stated that:
“This order shows that the Crown will not stop at prosecution; even after a conviction we will use legislation to ensure illegally gained funds are confiscated.”
The money confiscated shall be reinvested in Scottish communities through the governments Cashback for Communities programme.
