The 16 year old who cannot be named due to his age has appeared in Glasgow’s High Court this week in public. Mr Brian McConnachie QC pled not guilty on his behalf and he will stand trial in February 2019. The mother of the 6 year old girl was allowed permission by the court to attend at the hearing.
It has been alleged that the 16 year old had a knife when he raped and killed the six year old. There is a separate charge of attempting to defeat the ends of justice. Both Mr McConnachie QC and prosecutor Iain McSporran QC told the court they were ready for a trial to be set.
